Training & Classes
Instructor Training is the Lifeblood of our profession. So much is changing daily that to be trained several years ago and think you are all set, doing the best you can, is simply untrue and unfair to your clients. Not to mention potentially unsafe. Training is a reoccurring endeavor: a journey, not a destination. To that end, we offer various training programs to not only get you proficient, but also keep you there.
To ensure that we are offering our clientele the very best services possible, with the latest information and protocols, Instructor Training will now expire after 2 years. All certificates will note expirations. All Therapy Instructors will be expected to renew their certification on a bi-annual basis. If you were certified prior to 2019, we recommend you participate in a complete Senior Instructor Class. Recertification Registration is found below. Certificates will be sent to your local center and will become valid only upon completion and submission of the Horse Handling Certification by your local Center Executive Director.

Senior Instructor
A Senior Instructor knows everything an Associate knows, plus how to develop and conduct an intake interview. Then based on that interview, how to develop an appropriate protocol. They know how to develop the metrics by which the treatment will be measured and are responsible for setting appropriate goals for treatment. They will also be versed in the latest diagnosis updates and best practices and be responsible for maintaining them.
Biannual Recertification
This class can be done via Zoom or onsite and is about ½ day including an exam. This will need to be completed every 2 years. Your certificate will note expiration dates as appropriate. For those trained previously by SpiritHorse International, there are scholarships based on the level and how long since your last training. We strongly recommend anyone trained prior to 2019 should consider current training as much has changed since then.
